Past Posting at Roulette Table

04 Jun 2009

Past posting is cheating method used at most table games including roulette. In fact, it is late betting when the player places a bet after the point when the dealer says "No more bets!" or makes a special sign denoting that the bets are not allowed.

The name of this cheating method derived from the name of the tune used at the horse racing. It indicated that the racing was to start and no more bets were accepted.

At the roulette table past posting means placing the bet after the ball lands on the wheel pocket. Obviously in such case past posting is only possible if the player has already the bet on the table. After the winning number is known the player needs to distract the dealer's attention in order to place or move the chips on the winning position. Usually, the gambler who uses this cheat plays in a team. Then the gambler plays a few bets without cheating and quits the table.

Past posting method is easily revealed due to the number of cameras and other security devices that is why today it is almost never used at the casinos.
