Roulette Terms
Ball track - the outer trim of the roulette wheel, the place where the ball spins.
Biased Wheel - the wheel that causes the numbers appear in a sequence not randomly.
Big Number - the number that appears more often than it is statistically possible.
Bottom Track - the area in the inner part of the roulette wheel, that remains stationary. The ball slides here and than bounces to the number slot.
Chasing Losses - the strategy used by a player that lost for a while and bets more to win back all he lost.
Choppy Game - the losing game. May be referred to for casino or the player.
Croupier - the casino employee that operates the roulette table.
Five Number Bet - the bet present in American roulette that concerns 5 slots 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3.
House Edge - the advantage the casino has over the players.
Inside Bets - the bets that are made in the inner part of the betting table.
Orphelins - European bet that concerns 3 numbers that appear close at the roulette wheel but are far away from each other on the roulette table.
Outside Bets - the bets on the outer part of the table. These bets include even bets like red/black, high/low, odd/even bets.
Pay out - the winnings the casino pays to the players who win.
Roulette Layout - the layout with numbered grids on the table where the bets are to be placed.
Roulette table - the table that consists of the layout and the roulette wheel.
Roulette wheel - the wheel that comprises 37 slots with numbers from 1 to 36 and an extra slot of 0. (The American wheel also has the 00 slot.) The wheel is spinning clockwise and the ball spins on it in the opposite direction. When the ball stops it lands in one of the slots, the number of which is the winning one.
Tiers du cylinder - the term used for a bet on a group of numbers that are close on the table layout.
Visual Wheel Tracking - the ability to predict where the ball will land by a glance at the spinning roulette wheel.
Voisins du Zero - the term used for bets the player makes on a group of numbers close to 0.
Wheel Clocking - the method used by players to predict or determine a pattern and bias in the roulette wheel.
